Millennium hosted the public for a BBQ and tours at the site of the old aluminum smelter. Around 300-400 people were in attendance, including former employees of Reynolds, local vendors, labor and community leaders. The daylong open house provided the opportunity to share memories and celebrate progress made in the cleanup of the site.
The event allowed interested people to meet with the Millennium team – many of whom are friends and business associates. Many of the former Reynolds employees include some second and third generations of the same family. The day’s program also included presentations by Millennium staff to share more information on the status of plans to redevelop the site into a world-class port facility.
Hundreds of people turned out on a beautiful, fun-filled summer day that featured games, raffles, food and the chance to catch up with friends. As a local employer, Millennium takes pride in hosting events that strengthen community ties.
